Single Release: When I Was Young

I’ve read a number of times now that when you pin people down on “what were the good times”, or “what was the golden age” that politicians like to invoke, it inevitably comes back to when they were children. In fact, according to a Washington Post article, you can even pin down certain feelings rather than specific ages.

For example, most people like the music best from when they were 17. And most people think the world was in the best shape when they were about 10 years old.

So, this song is about that. It’s about real nostalgia, which I don’t discount as I like it myself, but just a reminder that in many ways it’s a fantasy.  The world looks great when you’re 10 because, as the song says, you don’t know the half of what’s going on.

I call this a bluegrass song. I wouldn’t say that I have much of a bluegrass voice, but I do truly love the harmonies in so many bluegrass tunes.

The song is available on all streaming services, and if you do not have a music service, you can access the song on YouTube: https://youtu.be/TOnAbSI4Ths
