When You’re Gone

There’s a quiet light
In the northern sky
Shows you the way
To get back home.

The wind that blows
It smells of rain
A promise for a change
When you are gone.

I can see
A storm out on the lake
Hard to tell
Which way it will go
A mystery
Solved just by the wait
Like the silent days
When you are gone.

Chorus
Come with me
We can find the morning
Walk with me
To the day
We can feel
The time unwinding
I see your face
When you’re away.

Our favorite patch of woods
Is now a busy street
The house where you grew up
Seems to be gone.

It doesn’t take much time
For things to change
And it’s hard to stay the same
When you are gone.

Like an old photograph
Where everything looks strange
But something in their eyes
Takes you along.

Or an empty house
Hopes to be reborn
I miss the warmth and light
When you are gone.
