Waiting for Spring

The spring is near
I’ve been waiting, waiting
Will it ever appear?
The cold rain keeps falling
And the snow won’t go away
And the sky is always gray
All hope begins to fade.

And now it’s here
I have to wait for summer
It’s getting near
When the air is warmer
I could really use the heat to balance winter’s defeat
Of my patience for the spring.

Chorus
I always watch the sky
As the years go spinning by
And I wonder why
I am the last to see
That when you wait for something new
The chances are so few
Just another mountain there to climb
I’m waiting for the spring
All of the time.

In the woods
The trees are greening
And underfoot
Last year’s leaves are turning
Into the soil they will make
All the time it will take
It’s the forest’s memory.

But for now
I’ll enjoy this day and
Remember how
Long it took for spring to come
Feel the sunlight on my skinLet the warmth of it soak in
And let the spring begin.

Repeat chorus
