The Guide Dog Song
One day I found myself
Riding the blind train
It’s all about losing
Nothing much to gain
You live your life
One loss at a time.
I knew I had to do something
To try to make things right
Learned what I could
Took up the cane that’s white
But it seemed
The best I could do was crawl.
Chorus
Now I’m gliding down the sidewalk
Like the tail of a kite
And I go where I want
If it’s day or if it’s night
People turn their heads when I walk by
Why should I crawl
When I can fly.
How much does it matter
When you have a guide
As much as the sky is tall
Or the sea is wide
It’s your chance
To open up your life.
A guide dog is a partner
That can read your mind
And guide dogs don’t care at all
If you’re big or small or blind.
What they know is that there’s work to do.
Chorus
