The Fear of Line Dancing
You say you want to go out dancing
You want to see what I can do
I’d rather stay here for a little romancing
Spend some time with you.
What’s all this stuff about going out?
Staying home is fine
But if you really want to do this thing
I want to be home by nine.
Don’t be silly, you say
We aren’t too old to have some fun
And I will bet you will regret
Your boring life when it is done.
OK, I say
You win this time
But don’t count on me if they start
Dancing in a line.
It’s fine if you want to go out
Just to have a good time
But you’ll find me in the parking lot
If they start dancing in a line.
What I don’t like about line dancing
I’m like a puppet on a string
And if I ever want to strut my stuff
I want to do my own thing.
What’s wrong with just staying home?
We can watch an old movie
Get some snacks and a couple of beers
And best of all, it’s almost free.
You’ll find me in the parking lot
If they start dancing in a line.
