Single Release: I Am An Irish Wannabe

Along with playing for, well, a really long time in rock and blues bands, I also played for about 15 years in an acoustic band that did a mix of Irish, bluegrass, and whatever we wanted.

I do love Irish music. I am not a traditionalist, although I appreciate those who are.

As the song explains, I might have a bit of Irish in me, but it’s probably pretty remote.

Anyway, this song is more of an Irish rocker and then at the surprise ending, which is no longer a surprise, it has more of a traditional Irish sound.

I really enjoyed working on this project, although it took me forever. There are a lot of different parts in this and the number of tracks I can use to record an overdub is limited, unlike modern completely digital studios. So, I needed to be creative in how I recorded it and how I tried to make each instrument distinctive.

I really had a great time playing the drums on this one. The song has a lot of instruments in it, including various guitars, drums, bass guitar, mandolin, accordion, acoustic guitar, and keyboard.

I drank myself a toast when I finally finished it.
