Requiem for the Forgotten

Out on the dock
The mist arrives
Boats glide by like shadows on the wall
The gray waves roll
And then they sigh
Then vanish on the shore.

I remember, like Avalon
Dreams so safe and strong
But the dreamers drift away
And in the dark they’re gone.

High up above
On the clear-cut hill
Where the trees used to stand
The creek still sings
And tumbles down
Through the empty land.

All the things
That have come and gone
All of those
Who slipped away
All the things they might have done
All the things they didn’t say
Pieces of life
That mean so much more.

I am here and I am gone
I am here and I am gone.
