O Lavinia

We’ve known each other
All of these years
But now you’re on my mind
O Lavinia
Could you be mine.

I have a job, I pay the bills
I’m a good man
Most the time
O Lavinia
Could you be mine.

Now you have opinions on everything
From taxes to knotty pine
Well, to me that’s all right

I’ll be as loyal as the family dog
From dawn till closing time
O Lavinia
Could you be mine.

They say you know what’s best, you’re always right
And you never change your mind
O Lavinia
Could you be mine

I don’t talk that much and I am content
To listen
Most the time
O Lavinia
Could you be mine

Now wouldn’t you like somebody
To help you pass the time
Well, I can do that just fine
And I’ve been alone since Angie died
And left me this empty life
O Lavinia
Could you be mine

I live out in the countryside
Where the stars light up the night
O Lavinia
Could you be mine

We’ll get a horse if that’s what you want
I’ll get anything you like
O Lavinia
Could you be mine

But you are always in such a hurry
How will you know my mind
O Lavinia
Give me some time

Now I don’t care what people think
I like that strong, strong mind
I think we’ll get along just fine
And I’m not the guy who comes in first
But I am the steady kind
O Lavinia
Could you be mine
O Lavinia
Will you be mine.
